Fernie Alpine Resort, breathtakingly situated 1,000m (3,280ft) high in the Canadian Rockies of southeastern BC, is a celebrated holiday destination renowned for its spectacular scenery and friendly ambiance. The mountain playground offers four seasons of outstanding activities.
In the winter, the resort happens to be one of the continent's top downhill skiing and snowboarding destinations, named one of the “Top 10 Resorts" in North America by the popular US-based Skiing Magazine (2007). Spring through fall, sports enthusiasts have easy access to hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, rafting and kayaking.
Getting to the ResortFernie Alpine Resort is situated in southeastern British Columbia, located just 5 km (3 mi) from Fernie – an authentic mining town known for its warm hospitality, colourful history and turn-of-the-century architecture.
By car, the resort is approximately 4 hours from Calgary, Alberta, and just over 2 hours from Kalispell, Montana or 4.5 hours from Spokane, Washington.
The nearest international airports are the Canadian Rockies International Airport (near Cranbrook; 1 hour and 15 minutes from the resort by car) or the Calgary International Airport (4 hours from the resort by car).
Winter shuttle services to the resort are available from Fernie. Shuttles to the town of Fernie are available from Calgary International Airport and Calgary. There is also a Greyhound bus depot in Fernie.
Car rentals are available from the Canadian Rockies International Airport and Calgary International Airport. In winter, it is recommended to rent a four-wheel drive vehicle, preferably with snow tires or chains.
Accommodations of all types for all budgets are available at the resort or in nearby Fernie (5 km/3 mi from the resort). There are numerous ski-in/ski-out or on mountain options.
