The community of Elkford (population: 2,463) is a picturesque town as well as a breathtaking outdoor destination. Elkford sits at an elevation of approximately 1300m (4265 ft), making it one of Canada’s highest communities. The town’s scenic setting, amid the Rocky Mountains, lush forested slopes, spectacular alpine meadows and glacier-fed lakes and streams, heightens this top-of-the-world perspective.

Known as the “Wilderness Capital of BC,” Elkford allows visitors to follow their interests from hiking, mountain biking and world-class fly fishing on the Elk River, to whitewater rafting, skiing, snowmobiling and more.

The town is also the summer gateway to Elk Lakes Provincial Park. Here you’ll find glacial-fed lakes set against massive cliff faces, plunging waterfalls, craggy summits and hanging icefalls. Wildlife spotting is a true adventure. Species frequenting the park’s meadows include Elk, White-tailed Deer and Moose.
