Delta (population: 96,723) is located on the southwest corner of BC, a 50-minute drive from downtown Vancouver and a 25-minute drive from either the Canada/US border crossings (Peace Arch and Pacific Highway) or Vancouver International Airport. One of the sunniest regions in the Lower Mainland, the municipality consists of three communities: North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen. Delta is home to some of the richest farmland in the Greater Vancouver Area as well as some of the most environmentally sensitive areas. They include the Fraser Estuary, which supports Canada’s highest number and diversity of wintering birds of prey as well as the nation’s largest winter population of shorebirds and waterfowl; and Burns Bog, a wetland home to some of BC’s rarest species as well as the largest undeveloped urban land mass in North America. Visit Ladner Village Market in the summer for fresh produce and hand-crafted treasures. Take a swim on Centennial Beach, known for its warmer waters and soft sand. Or explore Deas Island Regional Park, with its marshes, dykes and even a one-room schoolhouse and home built in the early 1900s.
