Campbell River
Campbell River (population: 29,572) stretches almost 24 km (15 mi) along the east coast of central Vancouver Island. While the city has a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as a theatre and museum, its greatest charms are found out of doors. Go to enjoy the coastline, festivals, whale watching, wildlife tours, kayaking, hiking, downhill skiing and superior salmon fishing.
"Must-sees, must-dos" include the Rotary Seawalk, the Discovery Fishing Pier and, in nearby Strathcona Provincial Park, the Golden Hinde (the highest peak on Vancouver Island).

Campbell River is also a convenient jumping-off point for Quadra and Cortes Islands. These islands are known for their natural beauty, excellent kayaking and hiking routes as well as eclectic arts and crafts.
