Armstrong (population: 4,241) is located in the Spallumcheen Valley, between sunny North Okanagan and the forested Shuswap Valley.
The name Spallumcheen is derived from the Splats'in First Nations who are the most southern tribe of the Shuswap Nation. From Splats'in came Spallumcheen, which means 'beautiful valley'.
The area's natural beauty includes serene wildlife and ecological reserves, as well as parks and outdoor resorts all within an hour's drive of the city. Armstrong’s strong agricultural roots are also in evidence everywhere.
For more than 100 years, Armstrong has been host to the Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede where you can see some of Canada's top cowboys compete. Outdoor recreation ranges from skiing and snowmobiling to golfing, hiking and mountain biking.
Armstrong's many renovated heritage buildings give visitors a sense of capturing the old west period charm.
