Camping in Tete Jaune, BC

If you're looking for a place to lay down your head in the Robson Valley area and prefer smaller crowds than what can be found in most provincial parks - Tete Jaune Lodge is a great choice. Multiple different sleeping accommodations are available, including; tent and RV spots, tepees and cabins, as well as a backpacker’s hostel. The premises also include a superb restaurant called, The Riverside Cafe - aptly named as the lodge site sits directly alongside the Fraser River. Two weeks ago I stayed at the Tete Jaune Lodge while exploring the Valemount and Mt. Robson areas. It is perfectly placed between the two as well as nearby many great area hikes. Located right next door is the Stellar Descents Rafting company, and I highly suggest booking a trip while you're in the area.

Robson Meadows - Wildlife Paradise

Last weekend a friend and I were fortunate enough to get a site in the Robson Meadows Campground in Mt. Robson Provincial Park. Robson Meadows includes all the normal amenities as other provincial parks along with a few bonus'. Wildlife frequent the lush forested sites and often appear alongside the roadways, which is ideal for close-up snapshots of the busy-tailed ungulates. In addition, interesting interpretive programs occur inside the park on afternoons and evenings from Thursday to Monday. We attended such programs as "Horny Goat and the Antlers" and "Plants of the Park", which were entertaining to say the least. Kids and adults alike will definitely enjoy themselves while staying at the Robson Meadows Campground.

Last weekend, a friend and I were fortunate enough to get a spot at the Robson Meadows Campground in Mt. Robson Provincial Park. Robson Meadows is the larger of the two campgrounds nearest the mountain and Visitor Info Center, and also the most popular. The spiral shaped campground includes all the normal provinical park amenitites along with a few bonus'. Deer and other wildlife frequent the lush forested sites, often appearing directly alongside the roadway, which is ideal for quick close-up snapshots of the bushy-tailed ungulates. In addition to fantastic photo opportunities, Robson Meadows also provides interesting interpretive programs during afternoons and evenings thursday to monday, right inside the park. We attended programs such as "Horny Goat and the Antlers" and "Plants of the Park", which were entertaining to say the least. Both kids and adults alike will enjoy their stay in Robson Meadows Campgound.

Overlander Falls

Overlander Falls, only one of the many featured inside the boundaries of Mt. Robson Provincial Park may be one of the most popular. Located along the yellowhead just 14km East of the HWY 5 & 16 Junction it is perhaps the best rest stop in the area during scorching hot summer months. On a recent trip to the area, myself and a friend discovered Overlander Falls on our quest to find a cool place out of the heat. On 30+ summer days the cool breeze and light spray from the waterfall produces the ultimate relaxing spot. The falls themselves lie down a small five minute walk from the road, which is perfect for a quick escape from the heat. We were very thankful we came upon them during our trip and suggest anyone passing through the area have a quick peek at this beautiful and refreshing waterfall.

Train Tours to B.C.

We have just returned from Whitecourt, Ab. where we had the wonderful surprise of seeing the Rockies by Train.  We drove to Jasper and from there boarded the Train, we had reservations which is a must!  From there we went for three and a half hours through the  mountains!! It was the most beautiful  and comfortable  way for us.  We were blessed with wonderful weather and all was clear and picurtesque!!  Mount Robson was absolutely breath taking as was the wild life.  We saw bears, deer, elk, and even two little bear cubs in a tree, one hiding behind the other, what a memory this has given us.  We were met at Dunster by a van that returned us safely  to Jasper.  The tour  guide driving the Van was very informative and we learned lots of wonderful things.  So if you get the chance take a Train Tour, it is wonderful!! We stayed in Jasper for the weekend and we couldn't stop talking about our TrainTour.  Be sure to take lots of pictures, we did!!

Great Camping

There were about 8 elk cows nested down around our camper. The bull would go to each and nuzzle her. We thought we heard him saying "You are my favorite!". ...Whatever he said they seemed to like it.

Yellowhead Lake

We found this wonderful little campground called Lucern in Mount Robson Park. Mount Robson was the main attraction for us, then we stopped at this little spot. The picture I took is right from our campspot, standing beside the picnic table. A beautiful little lake to canoe on and very peaceful surroundings.

Welcome to our Mount Robson blog site. We will be updating the blog weekly (or more) with interesting stories about our adventures here at Mount Robson. The Chinnok Salmon are currently spawning in the Fraser River. After a 1400km long journey from Vancouver, they arrive at Mount Robson park, and can be seen jumping up Rearguard Falls. The best time to see them is generally from about 4:30 pm to sunset (approx. 9:30pm). Yesterday I hiked up the Yellowhead Mountain, which is on the east side of the park. It was a beautiful day, although we did not see any wildlife (besides a squirrel carrying a huge mushroom) but we had great weather. It was so clear when we arrived at the end of the trail, we got a great view of Mount Fitzwilliam as well as some peaks in Jasper National Park.
