The Kicking Horse is BC's first Canadian Heritage River, and one of the most popular whitewater routes in Canada. Various sections offer trips on Class II to Class IV whitewater.

Ali Howard is swimming every inch of the 610km long Skeena River. She has so far swam through class four waters and when she completes her swim she will have spent 28 days on the Skeena River. She is taking on this incredible adventure all in hopes of raising awareness about the sacred headwaters of the Skeena river and to connect the communities that live along the River. The communities along the Skeena River have, for the past few years, been battling Royal Dutch Shell’s attempts to develop coalbed methane extraction in the headwaters of the Skeena River, in the Klappan Valley. On August 3, people from the Hazeltons and surrounding towns gathered to greet Ali, her support team, and many locals who joined her in the river as she swam ashore at ‘Ksan. Those who joined her came by various modes of transportation including canoes, kayaks, rafts, traditional First Nations war canoes and some even swam! The evening was filled with a lively celebration with live music, a traditional Gitksan feast, and the ‘Ksan First Nations dancers performed!

Last weekend we headed into the Fraser Canyon for our Camping and White Water adventure. It was so hot all over BC we wanted to enjoy some cool down time for the weekend. So I went onto google and searched all about rafting in BC. There was alot of options and places to see. We had already been up to whistler this year so we decided on Rafting up in Lytton BC. There is 4 rafting resorts in Canyon Country British Columbia and 6 rivers to choose from. We rafted the Thompson River with a local company. It was an excellent experience, the resort we stayed at also had rock repelling, mountain biking, Frisbee golf and full resort amenities, We were also lucky we reserved early and we got to stay inside a Tee Pee for the weekend. Other interesting accommodations were also available. On Sunday we stopped at a few places on the return trip like Siska Native Art Museum, Tuckkwiowhum Native Village in Boston Bar, Hell's Gate Airtram, Alexandra Bridge and at the Othello Tunnels in Hope BC. The weekend was excellent and we would recommend a similar weekend getaway like it! The Canyon is really close to the city of Vancouver. Harrison Hot Springs can also easily be Incorporated into your weekend getaway. We might do it again on the September long weekend so we can do the Coast Mountain Circle Tour that goes on a giant circle through Whistler, Lillooet, The Fraser Canyon and back to Vancouver. We will be stopping in Lytton for BC River Festival that is going on for that weekend.

A full day in the Robson valley, on any day of the week, is always a nice break for city folk like myself. Two and a half scenic hours east out of Prince George , past Sugarbowl-Grizzly den and the Ancient Rainforest, the valley floors widen and the hills roll into mountains as you get closer to the BC/Alberta border.
With an unbridled view of Mt. Robson , it is among the thousand-metre peaks over the headwaters of the Fraser River that Mount Robson Rafting begins their whitewater route. A family owned business with roots reaching back to the 1970’s, Mount Robson Rafting offers both scenic float trips for the camera-saavy, and whitewater rafting on the Fraser and Beaver Rivers for the adventurous. While on the Fraser, look forward to Wildcat, Terry Fox and “The Ejector”; just few of the well-known stretches of rapids that will greet and soak you before you drift towards a set of Class V waterfalls. Luckily, a portage route bypasses Rearguard Falls , while you pause and get misted by the falls while guides reset the raft. Float closer to Rearguard Falls and the team’s standby-guide/photographer can get great group photos, and will rip the photos to a CD and have it available at the office before you leave. Continuing downstream, raging torrents roar past gravel bars, eddies and sweepers and you can learn a bit about the local history and geography from your trusty guide. A deep, flat section of water usually invites the wettest and bravest guests for a quick dip as you float to your takeout point near the end of the route.
My time in the Robson Valley was perfect despite scattered thunderstorms looming over the peaks. McBride and area is beautiful, especially in the summer when the valleys are lush with vegetation and wildlife viewing opportunities abound.

I wanted to share the highlight of our trip to the Kootenay Rockies this summer - our Whitewater Rafting experience on the Kicking Horse River.
We experienced 35 kilometres of rafting, wonderful food and very friendly staff.
They acccommodated our family in that the little ones could ride in the morning with us, we all had the Riverside BBQ lunch, and those of us that met the requirement were able to tackle the bigger rapids the afternoon had to offer.
The Afternoon is where all the excitement was, however the morning was great for the kids in Yoho National Park. We went with Alpine Rafting, and I believe they are the only company that offers this sort of Family Trip. We would like to return

I spent 9 days in BC last summer travelling with my 9 year-old son. The highlight of our adventure was in the heart of the interior of British Columbia prettymuch on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. We rafted down the 'mighty' Kicking Horse as they call it, or the Kicking Horse River. We went with a company in golden british columbia called Alpine Rafting....they are awesome!
In addition, we also spent a few hours exploring the town of Golden once our rafting trip was over...a gondola ride, some shopping and we saw some deer right downtown! If you're looking for a family adventure, the Kicking Horse River and Alpine Rafting are a must-do in golden british columbia

For years my husband and I would drive through the Fraser Canyon, where the land soars up from the river and there he would watch river rafters conquering the mighty Fraser River.
Last year we got up our courage and decided to make a day trip down the Fraser River with Kumsheen Whitewater Rafting near Lytton, BC
We were very impressed with the professionalism that the staff conducted and were pleasantly surprised how our guide had all of us on the raft working as a team and enjoying each other's company. The staff made sure we had a thrill of a lifetime, sparing no dryness!
Kumsheen also has a wonderful resort for the rafters use, stemming from lifesize chess to beach volleyball, rock climbing, pool and spa, disc golf, basketball, tetherball or just plain relaxing afterwards in their lounge or coffee bar or at a nearby waterfall. There is something for just about everyone.
We certainly weren't disappointed and encourage everyone to try rafting at least once in their lifetime.
