Ghanaian Olympic Skier "Snow Leopard" visits the year-round destination Whistler, BC this summer. He joins Tourism British Columbia Field Reporter Chris Wheeler and checks out Blackcomb Glacier and the PEAK 2 PEAK alpine experience! Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, a skier who has been nicknamed the snow leopard, will serve as Ghana's one-man ski team in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. The Snow Leopard and his family had a great time in Whistler doing summer activities! Make sure to look for this guy ripping down the slopes in 2010 in his snow leopard spotted suit!

Red is a big mountain with a small town feel! I skied around Red Mountain on a bluebird day and sampled the diverse terrain. Red is a hidden jewel of the Kootenays with 3000 vertical feet of tree-skiing, wide open glades and fast groomers. Everyone is so friendly, their favorite colour is definitely red, and you will see that the views are truly unreal!

I spent a morning with Whitewater Ski Patrol during an inbounds avalanche control. These guys know their stuff and that lets Whitewater Winter Resort share all of its Kootenay powder with us. After bombing, a whole side of the mountain was opened for the public to safely ski fresh powder! And you'll see the perks for the ski patrol... the first face shots of the day!

I checked out the 2009 Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland. Some of the best freeskiers from around the world ripped down the face of one of freeskiing's most challenging venues...Mt. Roberts!

These guys and gals went huge, dropping cliffs and entertaining us spectators. The
athletes were judged on line choice, fluidity, technique, aggression and control. Make sure you visit Red Mountain Resort next year when this event is going on and watch these guys rip!
