Squamish Dining

Squamish has a reasonably diverse and tasty selection of privately operated and chain restaurants, pubs, cafes, coffee shops and lounges.

Mainstream pizza and burger joints are easy to find along the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) that passes through Squamish. Tantalus Road, a block east of the highway, features a cluster of ethnic restaurants, including Indian, Japanese, and Mexican.

Restaurants and Lounges

Squamish has several good restaurants that specialize in West Coast dining with fresh, local ingredients. One standout is The Copper House (36599 Darrell Bay Rd.). Offering views of Shannon Falls and the granite face of the Stawamus Chief, The Copper House serves dishes like smoked salmon platters, elk loin, and crème brulée with fresh berries, and has a wide-ranging wine list.

The Howe Sound Inn (37801 Cleveland Ave.) is home to Squamish's signature microbrewery, offering eight beers year-round and five seasonal brews. The Garibaldi Honey Pale Ale won a gold medal at the 2007 North American Beer Awards. In the wood-paneled brewpub and lounge, quaff a beer and dine on yam fries or wild salmon spinach salad.

Opening at 5 p.m. daily, the Burrow (11-40437 Tantalus Rd.) distinguishes itself among local lounges with funky red decor, a trendy downtown Vancouver-like vibe, and a martini list that complements its tapas offerings.

As well, there's a Sunday brunch buffet (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) with hot and cold entrees at Rockwell's (40700 Tantalus Rd.) in the Executive Suites Garibaldi Springs Golf Resort. Healthy, homestyle, and multi-ethnic cooking is served at the cafeteria of the hilltop Quest University (3200 University Blvd.).

Coffee Houses
