Gibsons offers some of the Sunshine Coast's tastiest dining options, including waterfront restaurants, funky tapas bars, coffee shops, farmers markets, and fast food.
Dining at Gibsons LandingA good starting point is Molly's Reach (647 School Rd.), which once served as a set for the hit CBC TV series, The Beachcombers. Easy to spot by its yellow false-front facade next to the Gibsons harbour (also known as Gibsons Landing), Molly's specializes in fish and chips with locally brewed ale batter.
Just below Molly's, Smitty's Oyster House (643 School Rd.) lures seafood lovers with locally caught oysters, mussels, and clams and a diverse international wine list in a communal atmosphere.
Nearby Gower Point Road and Marine Drive make up a compact dining district. Savor the cocktails and organic tapas at Marcia's Restaurant (280 Gower Point Rd.), dig into Mediterranean fare at Leo's Tapas and Grill (274 Gower Point Rd.), or try something more casual at a Marine Drive coffee shop, pub, or cafe.
Fresh and LocalFor fine dining, Chasters offers prix fixe meals and elaborate tasting menus with healthy Sunshine Coast-sourced ingredients at the waterfront Bonniebrook Lodge (1532 Ocean Beach Esplanade). Feel like stocking up on local fruits and vegetables? Don't miss the Fiddlehead Farmers Market at White Tower Park from June to October.
More Sunshine Coast DiningIn Sechelt, a 23km/14mi drive north on Highway 101, diners can savor contemporary West Coast food at the upscale Spence on the Coast (#202-5500 Sunshine Coast Hwy.).Closer to Gibsons, the Gumboot Restaurant (1041 Roberts Creek Rd.) in Roberts Creek has an eclectic menu with big portions. Red tables cluster beneath a wood-beamed, skylit ceiling, and local artists display their work on the walls.
