Dining options are plentiful in Campbell River, whether it's fish and chips served dockside in a marina or surf and turf platters in a comfortable pub or restaurant. A complete list of 60-plus sit-down and takeaway spots in the area is available at the Visitor Centre.

Dick's Fish & Chips

Nothing beats seafood and fries when served in the outdoors a stone's throw from the ocean. Patrons at Dick's Fish & Chips sit at picnic tables on a floating patio while enjoying cod, salmon, and halibut deep-fried or grilled. Find it at the Coast Marina near the Quadra Island ferry dock downtown.

Seafood Restaurants

Patti Finn's Seafood is a colorful and casual wharfside eatery serving local oysters, crab, prawns, and grilled fish. (Leave the car in the parking lot at the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre and walk over.) The Discovery Pier Concession is strategically situated on downtown's favorite fishing pier. It's several cuts above most takeaway booths of its kind thanks to a first-rate (and filling) menu of wraps, seafood and big-scoop ice cream.

The popular Lookout West Coast Grill (921 Island Highway) draws the crowds thanks to its oceanside locale and a fun menu highlighted by prawns, scallops and mussels sold by the pound.

Sunday Farmer's Market

The Pier Street district on the downtown waterfront is notable for its shops, heritage buildings, and a busy farmer's market held from April to October. The latter was rated one of the country's ten best such markets by Canadian Geographic magazine in 2009. Pick up fresh catches from Crabby Bob's Seafood, fruit and veggies from Devonshire Farm, baked delights from Heavenly Goodies, and gourmet cheese from Natural Pastures.

Sushi devotees flock to Wasabia, while Thai cravings are satisfied at Baan Thai. The Royal Coachman is the area's most popular upscale pub. Fine diners enjoy the epicurean menu at the Herriot Bay Inn, or try modern tapas at The Tasting Room.
