Vernon Accommodations

Vernon offers a surprising array of accommodations for a place of its small size. Choices reflect the city's long history as a family summer vacation destination, its close proximity to rugged wilderness and alpine winter sports, and a new trend toward sophisticated modern resorts.

Hotels and Motels

National and regional chain hotels, including the Prestige Inn & Conference Centre, Sandman Inn and the Holiday Inn Express, cluster in the city centre, especially along Highway 97, and provide predictable quality and amenities like indoor pools, restaurants and lounges. Motels are located in the same area and although they date to earlier times, most have been renovated in recent years and offer good value and extras like outdoor pools.

Two hostels welcome backpackers and the seriously budget-conscious, one in downtown Vernon and the other at Silver Star Mountain Resort. Both offer shared, private and family rooms.

Resorts

Luxury in Vernon comes in two different styles. At Predator Ridge Golf Resort, 15 minutes from downtown, book studios to three-bedroom suites in the lodge or rent a self-contained golf cottage. All accommodations include full kitchen, fireplace and soaker tub. There's 27 holes of golf, a full fitness centre, salon and spa, and on-site dining.

Lakeside Illahee Inn on the shore of Kalamalka Lake next to Kalamalka Provincial Park is an intimate, family-owned hide-away with a sandy beach. The emphasis here is on romance with fireplaces, jetted-tubs and a love swing on each private deck.

B&Bs, Cabins and Specialty Stays

To experience the individual flavours of Vernon, check into a heritage home connected with one of the area's first and largest cattle ranches, retire to a country estate with lake and valley views or wake up and smell the wildflowers in a mountain retreat.

For a stronger taste of the backcountry, wilderness and lakeside fishing lodges in the highlands surrounding Vernon offer cottages, rustic cabins and camping. Horse-lovers, try a guest ranch or B&B and bale.

Camping and RV

Vernon is well stocked with fully serviced RV sites and campgrounds on Kalamalka Lake, Okanagan Lake and Swan Lake. In addition, there are 71 unserviced campsites and two yurts for rent at Ellison Provincial Park, which accepts reservations online.

Silver Star Mountain Resort

Winter and summer chose between standard hotel rooms, condos, townhomes and chalet rentals in the pedestrian friendly village on the mountain.
