Vanderhoof Accommodations
Vanderhoof's downtown area has several accommodation options: hotels, motels and a couple bed and breakfasts. Quite a few also have adjacent restaurants and/or pubs.
Hotels
One of the more popular hotels in town is the North Country Inn, which has an adjoining log cabin style restaurant. Be aware that hotels are quite busy year round, so reservations are highly recommended.
Wilderness Lodges
There are 15 or so wilderness lodges south of Vanderhoof in an area known as “Big River Country.” Lodges are located in the backwoods area surrounded by lakes and forests. Some are waterfront properties while others are on ranches. Lodges range from rustic to upscale, with many offering one or more specific recreational activities such as fishing and outfitting. Booking ahead of time is expected though some allow drop in guests.
Visitors can reach a few of the lodges by road. Maps of the area are available at the Visitor Centre located in downtown Vanderhoof. It is not necessary to have a sport utility vehicle, but it's important to be equipped for an emergency. Some wilderness resorts are fly- or boat-in only. In such cases, travel arrangements are made with the lodge upon booking.
Camping and RVs
Camping is available at Riverside Campground, located on the Nechako River next to the local bird sanctuary and Riverside Park, and at various forestry campsites. Dave's RV Park is a short drive east of Vanderhoof.
Pick up the Vanderhoof Visitor Centre's Accommodation, Restaurants & Services brochure for more information on accommodations in the area. The brochure includes a map.
