Terrace Accommodations
There are a couple of choices or more for every type of accommodation in Terrace: hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, campgrounds, RV parks, lodges and cabins.
Hotels and Motels
The town's two most upscale hotels are the Best Western Terrace Inn and The Coast Inn of the West, both conveniently located in the heart of downtown. Both hotels were recently bought by the same new owners and have undergone renovations. They are clean and comfortable.
The town's various motels flank its centre. Some dot Highway 16 on the west side of town towards Prince Rupert. Another is on Lakelse Lake Road, also called Main Street, close to the old bridge, while others are a few minutes drive out of town, on the east part of Highway 16 towards Smithers. The motels are basic and some rooms have kitchenettes.
Bed and Breakfasts
Terrace's bed and breakfast options are limited, but one that is well-known for its warm hospitality is the Lanfear Guest and Guide House. It's a quaint, home-based business with only three rooms, a few minutes walk from downtown. The building is a heritage farmhouse built in 1922. Guests have the option of eating home-cooked meals with friendly owners.
There are no hostels in town but campers have a number of options. The closest choice is the 150-acre municipal park on Ferry Island, a couple minutes drive from Main Street. The campground is a cozy nature haven surrounded by the Skeena River. A great walking trail, popular with runners and dog walkers, loops the island. Ferry Island has more than 100 campsites, running water washrooms, outhouses, fire pits, and water and electrical hook-ups.
Other campgrounds offer better scenery and more of a wilderness experience but are 20 minutes to an hour's drive from town. Learn more about Camping in Terrace.
Two RV parks are along Highway 16, a short drive west of downtown. During the summer, RVers can park beside the George Little House, on Kalum Street downtown.
Cabins and Cottages
Small cottages at Lakelse Lake – some on the waterfront, others in the forest – are also for rent. Several larger, higher-priced wilderness lodges in the area also rent rooms mostly targeted at fishers.
A couple of backcountry ski cabins are available by reservation but visitors need to organize their own helicopter rides in and out. Book the cabins and ask for more information at Terrace's backcountry store, Azad Adventures.
