Smithers Accommodations
There is an array of accommodation options in Smithers.
Camping and RVing in Smithers
Riverside Park, the municipal campground, is just a few minutes drive from town or less than an hour by foot on the city's perimeter trail network. Tyhee Lake Provincial Park, a popular recreation spot with a sandy beach and nicely landscaped grassy area is just 12km/7mi east of Smithers. Both sites accommodate tents and RVs.
Several RV parks also in and close to downtown offer daytime parking or overnight sites with full hook-ups. One on the east side of Smithers, the Riverside Golf & R.V. Park, also features an 18-hole three-par golf course.
Cottages and B&Bs
Visitors looking for a cozier experience can rent cabins or cottages on nearby lakes, still only a few minutes drive from town. Choices range from rustic wooden cabins with woodstoves to fancier, more modern lodging. Cabins rent through resort companies and private owners.
Other options in and around town include guesthouses, inns, bed & breakfasts, motels, hotels and lodges.
Lodges and B&Bs
Smithers doesn't have a luxury hotel, but it does offer an exceptionally luxurious lodge.
Resting on a hillside on a 160-acre piece of land between the town of Smithers and the Babine Mountains Provincial Park, the Logpile Lodge offers an authentic atmosphere in a beautiful environment. The lodge has only seven rooms and no phone or internet connection. Recreational trails nearby – including Malkow Lookout, a popular, short and easy day-hike that begins at the bottom of the lodge's steep driveway – allow guests to check out incredible views of the area.
The Logpile is renowned for its owners' hospitality, fine European-style dining and home-made breakfast made from scratch which is included in the room fee. The Driftwood Lodge, another B & B which sits on 120-acres in the hills between Smithers and the Babines, has a similar log theme.
Exclusive fishing lodges are also in the area and ski-in, ski-out cabins on Hudson Bay Mountain are also available for rent.
Smithers' Visitor Centre, on the corner of Main Street and Highway 16, is a great source of information about the town's services and things to do. The place is full of longer, comprehensive tourist guides as well as brochures and pamphlets on specific topics including Accommodations.
