Qualicum Beach Accommodations

Blue Willow Guesthouse - Jeff BatemanIn keeping with Qualicum Beach's homespun identity, accommodation options within municipal limits are dominated by relaxed and welcoming seaside motels, small resorts and B&Bs. A handful of inns, cottages, camp grounds and long-term guest houses are also available. The region's major resorts, hotels and motels are clustered oceanside in nearby Parksville. There are unique treehouses suspended in the forest.

Brochures and an accommodations binder can be browsed at the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre (2711 West Island Highway at Memorial Avenue). Staff offer a free booking service. Availability is charted on a large display board during the busy summer season.

B&Bs and Resorts

A handful of multi-unit inns, cottages and resorts are strung along the Oceanside Route (aka the West Island Highway or Route #19A) as far west as Bowser and Qualicum Bay. Many of these offer beach access and/or ocean views at reasonable prices.

The Old Dutch Inn By the Sea, which has a well-known restaurant, is located at the foot of Memorial Avenue near the Visitor Centre. Other options include the Shorewater Resort, Riverside Resort with townhouse style accommodation (plus camping and RV), Sand Pebbles Inn and Casa Grande Inn.

Most B&Bs are located either in town itself or nearby. Many of the homes feature the kind of lush gardens for which the town is famous. The backyard at the tudor-style Blue Willow Guest House (524 Quatna Rd.), for instance, is a regular stop on garden tours. (Don't forget to indulge in owner Maxine Morris' gourmet, home-cooked breakfasts there.)

Camping and RVs

Set up tents in wooded glades or next to ocean, river or lake. Horne Lake Regional Park (near Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park) is a 30-minute drive inland from Qualicum Beach, has year-round lakeside and forested sites for tents and RVs; family groups of up to 10 people can also rent teepees here in high season.
