Prince Rupert Accommodations

Cow Bay Cafe and Eagle Bluff B&B - JF BergeronPrince Rupert has one chain hotel, the Coast Prince Rupert Hotel, and 10 independently-owned hotels, motels and inns dispersed within its downtown. The establishments differ in price and location and overall are comfortable and clean but basic.

Hotels and B&Bs

The Crest Hotel, however, located high on a hill on Prince Rupert's waterfront, just a few blocks from the main tourist hub of Cow Bay, is exceptional. The Crest is the only four-star hotel in Northwest BC. The hotel features a lounge restaurant and martini bar with great ocean views in addition to comfortable suites, a fitness centre, and a hot tub deck overlooking the ocean and nearby islands.

A quainter option is to stay at one of several bed and breakfasts scattered throughout the residential areas of the city. These provide a more intimate atmosphere but are not central. Most however, are still in walking distance of downtown.

Hostels and Camping

Pioneer Hostel - Sarah ArtisUnlike communities nearby, Prince Rupert has two well-maintained hostels for budget travellers. One is closer to Cow Bay, the main tourist hub, while the other is near Main Street. Choose between private, shared and dorm rooms.

A great thing about accommodations in Prince Rupert is most are pet-friendly for a few dollars extra, though some do require a crate for the pets and/or have size limits.

Camping and RV options in the city are limited. The only site in town that hosts RVs and tents is a two-minute drive from downtown, towards the ferry terminal, and is located right on the highway. Two other sites are both a 15-minute drive east from town. One is located within the First Nations community of Port Edward; the other is in a small provincial park. During the day, RVs should park in Cow Bay. There's one specific parking lot that is RV accessible and visitors should ask for directions at the Visitor Centre in the Atlin Terminal.

Another option is to stay at an exclusive fishing lodge or remote cabin. These are usually fly- or boat-in only, and require reservations far in advance.
