Book early if a trip coincides with the every other-night spring/summer/fall arrival of the Prince Rupert Ferry. There is usually plenty of choice among the area's 400+ units on off-nights, but the selection can be tight when the Northern Discovery docks.

A dozen or so B&Bs welcome visitors in the Port Hardy region. Complimentary organic wine and locally made chocolate are served at An Ocean Storm Bed and Breakfast. Also, several wilderness resorts can are found in the God's Pocket Marine Park area offshore, while getaway fishing expeditions are hosted at the Winter Harbour Lodge on the island's northwestern coast.
Inns & Cabins
The Quarterdeck Inn and Glen Lyon Inn are side-by-side on Hardy Bay Road within steps of the marina and Fisherman's Wharf. Other good, no-fuss options include The Airport Inn, the riverside Pioneer Inn, and the downtown Port Hardy Inn.
Hostels & Campgrounds
Anyone seeking a European-style hostel experience in Port Hardy can opt for the North Coast Trail Backpackers Hostel, a friendly refuge for individuals and family groups on a budget. Camp or park an R/V near the salmon hatchery on the Quatse River. Find a wilderness site in a remote provincial park. Or stay close to town at Sunny Sanctuary Campground, renowned for its friendly rabbits and (not kidding) roadkill museum.
