Penticton Accommodations
Penticton offers the range of accommodations expected of a long-standing summer vacation destination. However, the city's development as a hub for wine tourism is adding a new dimension, with a crop of recent additions, especially B&Bs, catering to a different taste.
Hotels & Motels
Penticton has only a few national and regional chain hotels/motor inns spread around the city in the commercial district on the south side of downtown. These are situated near the Penticton Convention Centre and South Okanagan Events Centre, and in the north end near Okanagan Lake. There are also a couple of older, low-rise hotels downtown.
Numerous mom-and-pop style motels cluster along or just off Riverside Drive and Lakeshore Road near Okanagan Lake. Some are recently renovated, others offer budget stays. There are more motels in the Skaha Beach area.
One hostel welcomes backpackers and the seriously budget-conscious in downtown Penticton. Another is open during ski season at Apex Mountain Resort. Both offer shared and private rooms.
Lakeshore Resort
The Penticton Lakeside Resort & Casino provides the only waterfront accommodations in the city with beach access on Okanagan Lake.
B&Bs and Specialty Stays
Many new B&Bs have opened in and around Penticton in recent years. Stay in a modern city home or retreat to a country setting surrounded by vineyards and overlooking one of the lakes. Unusual possibilities include God's Mountain Estate, where one of the rooms is open to the night sky, and Spiller's Corner, a heritage home at Spiller Estate Winery and fruit stand. In the city, Casa Grande is an inn-style B&B in the Okanagan Lake tourist zone while Cormier's Studio is a working artist's studio. Horse lovers check out Apex Mountain Guest Ranch.
Camping and RV
Penticton is one of the few places in the Okanagan that still offers camping/RV sites close to the lakeshore. Within the city, six different parks provide full-service facilities. There are several more private parks on the east shore of Skaha Lake and in the villages of Kaleden and Okanagan Falls. An additional 37 campsites are available at Okanagan Falls (25 spaces) and Vaseux Lake (12 spaces) Provincial Parks. These facilities are all located within 19km/12mi of downtown Penticton.
Apex Mountain Resort
Sliders and gliders choose between standard hotel rooms, condos, cabins, townhomes, hostels, chalet rentals and RV parking on the mountain.
