It's just a 40-minute drive west from Langley to downtown Vancouver via the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1).
Hotels in Langley
Both family and business-class hotels abound in Langley, mostly clustered near the Trans-Canada Highway or the Fraser Highway that runs through downtown.
The Sandman Hotel (8855 202nd St) is Langley's largest with 144 guestrooms. It's located, along with several other hotel chains, in the Walnut Grove area off the Trans-Canada Highway. Fort Langley National Historic Site lies a short drive to the east, and there is easy access to the IMAX-equipped Colossus Langley movie theatre, plus numerous brand-name burger, pasta and steak restaurants.
One of the latest additions to the Langley hotel scene is the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre (20393 Fraser Hwy). It includes the only convention centre in the Fraser Valley, as well as the Cascades Casino, which has 50,000sq ft/4,645sq m of poker, blackjack, roulette and other table games. A 420-seat show theatre showcases local rock heroes. Another hotel, the Super 8 Langley (26574 Gloucester Way) features an indoor pool with an 80ft/24m waterslide.
Bed and Breakfasts
Six B&Bs currently grace the Langley area. Located five minutes from the 1886-built Milner Chapel in the historic Murrayville community, the Princess and the Pea B&B (21628 48th Ave) caters to newlywed couples in a cozy heritage home with hardwood floors and huge four-poster beds. Environmentally minded types will appreciate the owners' reliance on solar energy panels.
Cranberry Country Bed & Breakfast (8865 Wright St) is situated on the privately owned Salmon River Ranch, and offers guests a hot breakfast or continental buffet and quirky features, including a cranberry-coloured tandem bicycle and a romantic cranberry-themed room with an ensuite bathroom. It's also a short walk or drive east to Fort Langley.
Camping and RV Parks
At Fort Camping (9451 Glover Rd), choose from 156 large camping sites with space for RVs, use laundry and modern bathroom facilities, and rent kayaks, canoes and bikes. Winter camping and summer day camps for kids are also available. Fort Camping is scenically located on Brae Island Regional Park in the Fraser River, immediately north of the historic village of Fort Langley (pop. 2,900) over the bridge.
Cedar Springs RV Park (23390-72nd Ave) has low per-vehicle rates, easy access to gas and food, and is located a 10-minute drive from Fort Langley. Southeast of downtown Langley along the Fraser Highway, Alderbrook RV Park (26331 - 28 Ave) offers 97 RV and camping sites year-round.
