Hope Accommodations
Since Hope is often regarded as a stop-over destination, motels proliferate on both sides of the highway. But there are also quality B&Bs as well as a terrific selection of campsites.
Hotels & Motels
Since the Heritage Inn Hope dropped its Best Western affiliation, Quality Inn Hope is the only chain-name property in town and a good family choice for its indoor pool and sauna. Lake in the Woods is another family option. Located 3.2km/2m out of town, it overlooks a popular swimming lake where guests can check in to oversized cabins and check out canoes and paddle boats.
Downtown, The Skagit Motor Inn is a find for peace and quiet, tucked into a residential neighbourhood just two blocks off Hwy #1.
Kw'o:kw'e:hala Eco Retreat
An unusual place to stay is the elegantly rustic Kw'o:kw'e:hala Eco Retreat where the eco-aware focus makes for a casual and very romantic time. Think gourmet cuisine served in an outdoor dining area beside the river, comfortable and secluded cabins, artsy outdoor showers, and a food-filled flower garden.
Bed & Breakfasts
As Hope's highest rated B&B, Evergreen B&B tops the list as a year-round choice. It provides many pampering touches such as a hot tub, complimentary use of canoe or bikes, and a multi-course breakfast. The Bears Heritage House B&B is a lovingly restored heritage home in town while Kopp Creek B&B, a half-block from busy Kawkawa Lake is a beautifully converted A-frame chalet with tons of charm and character.
Camping & RV Parks
The surrounding parks deliver an array of picturesque camping sites, including Manning Provincial Park, Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, and Thacker Regional Park.
Silver Valley & Skagit Valley Campsites
Campsites at Silver Valley and Skagit Valley are certainly worth the long, gravel road drive – just be sure to heed the open/closed sign before setting off; Skagit Valley is on the Trans Canada Horseback Trail and the only provincial campground designed with private corrals for horses. The gravel road continues for 60km/37.3m to the US border which straddles Ross Lake in the Cascade Mountains; it is the only road access to two remote campgrounds, one in either country.
Riverside Campgrounds
Emory Creek has several riverside sites; however, light sleepers might hear trains tooting their whistles through the night as they approach the unmarked crossing. Coquihalla Campround also has several sites beside the river, as does the Sto:lo First Nations Telte-Yet Campground that sits right on the Fraser River in downtown Hope.
Check out Holiday Motel & RV Resort for its variety of motel rooms, cabin, tent and RV accommodations; this is where to access the (only) trail to Sasquatch Caves. For off season campers, The Othello Tunnels RV & Campground, and the family owned and operated Holiday Motel & RV Resort are open year round.
