Golden Accommodations

For a small-town, Golden has an abundance of hotel accommodation. Most of the approximately 1000 rooms are conveniently located by the TransCanada Highway.

Chain Hotels in Golden

Turn off the highway at the light for the Prestige Mountainside Resort, which has comfortable rooms, with views of the Dogtooth Range on the south side. The Best Western Mountainview Inn and the Ramada Inn are clustered in the same area.

Staying at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

The Kicking Horse Mountain Resort offers a variety of lodgings, ranging from standard hotel rooms to self-contained luxury condos. The largest accommodation facility, Glacier Mountaineer Lodge, is located at the base of the Golden Eagle Express gondola. One of the smallest, and perhaps the most exclusive, is accessed via the gondola - the Eagle's Eye Suites are perched on the very top of the ridge.

Backcountry Lodges around Golden

There are several remote backcountry lodges in the mountains around Golden. Most are accessible only by helicopter. For people who want to really get away from it all, these full-service mountain hideaways are the perfect base for activities such as ski touring and hiking.

Lodges and B&Bs

At lower elevations nearer town, a wide selection of lodges provide comfortable accommodation and personal service. They also provide bookend accommodation for visitors heading to backcountry lodges. The Kicking Horse River Lodge, a vast log building at the edge of town, has been recognized by National Geographic as one of the 50 best eco-lodges in the world. They do a great breakfast too.

Speaking of breakfasts, there are a couple of B&Bs in town. For budget travellers, there is a backpacker hostel at 518 Station Avenue. Head to the Golden Visitor Centre for more information on where to stay.
