Fernie Accommodations
When Fernie's visitor accommodation is fully occupied, there are approximately 5,000 tired skiers and snowboarders sleeping in the city's hotels, lodges and condominiums. That's almost 1000 more than Fernie's out-of-season resident population.
The selection of properties is large, ranging from high-end full service lodges to inexpensive hostels, with a range of hotels, condos, chalets and private vacation homes in between.
Staying in Fernie
Located conveniently close to nightlife and restaurants, there are several hotels on the strip, including the Park Place Lodge Fernie and the Best Western Fernie Mountain Lodge. Budget travellers will appreciate the two backpacker hostels in town.
Outside the city limits, the Stanford Inn and Resort is one of many new developments between the highway and the river.
Fernie Alpine Resort
If first tracks are more important than nightlife, go for one of the ski in/ski out options at the Fernie Alpine Resort. An extraordinary array of hotels, lodges and chalets are clustered around the resort centre. Properties are primarily condos ranging in size from studio to four bedrooms, with a variety of amenities such as hot tubs, exercise rooms, games rooms and laundry facilities.
Island Lake Resort
Perhaps the ultimate in backcountry lodge luxury, Island Lake Lodge sits high in the Cedar Valley at an elevation of 1460m/4790ft. Four separate handcrafted buildings make up the resort, which is situated next to a beautiful mountain lake with an island in the middle. The resort's Tall Timber dining room presents exceptional fare, and features a unique wine library.
