The Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn (6474 Trans Canada Highway just north of town) and the Oceanfront Grand Resort & Marina on the water's edge in Cowichan Bay are the leading hotels. A handful of affordable hotels and motels can also be found in Duncan. In Cowichan Lake, the Honeymoon Bay Lodge has 17 guest suites and conference facilities.
B&Bs & Guest Houses
More than 40 B&Bs welcome guests to Duncan. The Quamichan Inn on Maple Bay Road has the ambience of an English manor house with its landscaped grounds, resident dogs, licensed lounge, and first-rate dining room. In Cowichan Bay, the Old Farm Bed & Breakfast offers rooms in a heritage house designed by the renowned Victoria architect Samuel Maclure.
South of Duncan, the Fairburn Farm Culinary Retreat and Guesthouse is run by slow-food pioneer Mara Jernigan, who prepares fabulous breakfasts daily and offers dinner on weekends. On the road to Cowichan Lake is the Warm Rapids Inn, a prime spot for cyclists and kayakers (the owner offers lessons and tours).
Camping & Houseboats
A handful of private and public campgrounds appeals to tenters and the RV set. Gordon Bay and Cowichan River Provincial Parks are popular first choices for families. Floating vacations on Cowichan Lake are a low-stress pleasure aboard the 10-passenger "moon cruisers" rented by Island Houseboats.
