Castlegar Accommodations

Castlegar is a logical overnight stop for travelers along Highway #3. Accommodation options include hotel and motels, bed and breakfasts, and several campgrounds. Advance reservations are a good idea during the summer months.

Hotels and Motels

Several national hotels and motels are clustered around Highway #3 and provide convenient access to Castlegar Regional Airport. Just west of town on Highway #3, the Cozy Pines Motel proudly advertises "We Accept Alberta Dollars at Par".

Bed and Breakfasts

The Windborne B&B offers luxurious accommodation with some extra touches such as hydrotherapy showers. Overlooking the Columbia River approximately 10 minutes west of downtown, the Windborne is located on Broadwater Road in Robson.

The Walking Tree Ranch Bed and Breakfast offers modest accommodation on a working farm – complete with horses, chickens, and dogs. Trail rides and riding instruction are available. The Walking Tree is on Relkoff Road, off Broadwater Road, across the river from downtown Castlegar.

Backpacker Hostel

On the Selkirk College campus, the Kekuli House Residence serves as a backpacker hostel from May to mid-August.

Camping and RVs

Syringa Creek Provincial Park, located 30 minutes west of Castlegar on the Lower Arrow Lake, is a sun and sand destination that is typically busy all summer. Approximately half of the 61 sites can be secured with an advance reservation. Pass Creek Regional Park, conveniently located a few minutes north of downtown, offers 30 campsites and free hot showers.

For full-service RV camping, check out the Kootenay River Kampground, situated near the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers, and the Castlegar RV Park, 4km/2.5mi west of town, off Highway #3.
