Bowen Island Accommodations

The Lodge - Darcie Buzzelle photoLooking for cozy charm in a rural setting? That's what Bowen Island's accommodations are all about. No matter where visitors stay on this peaceful island, just a short ferry or water taxi ride from Vancouver, everything is nearby.

Those craving a romantic getaway or weekend retreat can choose from more than 40 options, including high-quality B&Bs, lodges, cottages, and guesthouses. Waterfront and garden views abound, and rates typically run between $100 and $250 a night.

Bowen Island Bed & Breakfasts

For a taste of Bowen Island's history, the Lodge at the Old Dorm is a fine choice. The six-room B&B once housed employees of the Union Steamship Company, which operated Bowen Island as a holiday resort through the 1950s. Located near the Snug Cove ferry terminal, the Lodge at the Old Dorm has been thoroughly renovated. Soaker tubs, historical memorabilia, and sumptuous breakfasts are among its highlights.

Next door, the Evergreen Hall Guest House B&B served as a dance hall in the good old days, and still hosts many retreats and weddings in its multi-purpose room. Painted a warm yellow and nestled in a park-like setting, it offers a luxury suite with a kitchenette, plus two guest rooms with flat-screen TVs.

Themed Lodgings

The Chocolate Suite - Cocoa West ChocolatiersOther Bowen Island B&Bs focus on special themes. The Chocolate Suite is operated by Cocoa West Chocolatier in Artisan Square, on a hill above Snug Cove. Designed for chocolate lovers, it offers guests hot chocolate and organic truffles, a queen-sized bed, a rainhead shower, and modern décor.

On the west side of Bowen Island, Island Thyme Bed and Breakfast is noted for its tailored rockery and rose gardens. It has a bistro-style kitchen, a private stone patio, and easy access to nearby swimming beaches.

A mid-island stay at the cottage at Alderwood Farm enables guests to check out the working farm. Emus, chickens, and donkeys roam the premises. There's a specialty food shop and a ceremonial rock garden for wedding parties.

Bowen Island does not offer overnight camping or brand-name hotels.
