Every BC Gulf Island has a high per-capita population of creatives, and Denman Island is no exception.

Unlike most with smaller populations, however, it boasts an elegant cooperative gallery showcasing island artists. And Denman's community arts center is renowned for its weekend workshops, which are designed to boost the creative self-expression of artists and enthusiasts alike.

Denman Craft Shop

A collective of nine artists founded the Denman Craft Shop in the 1980s as a space to display their own work and that of other islanders. Look for the wooden sculptures and yellow bike rack in front of a tin-roofed house set back off Denman Road in the village centre. Then step through the red door to browse through the shop's rotating collections of fine arts and crafts – Bev Severn's jewellery, Lee Andra Jacobs' beadwork, John Harned's glass art, and Patti Willis' pottery included.
