This is where you'll find the vendors who have been doing it since the beginning; what started as 14 farmers 'squatting' at the Croatian Cultural Centre back in 1995 has grown into one of Vancouver's most well-known and beloved markets. Visitors come from near and far to sample artisan breads and preserves, stock up on free-range and organic eggs and meats, get the freshest, hard-to-find heirloom vegetables and taste the first Okanagan cherries and peaches of the season.

Come meet your friends and neighbours, pick up supplies for a picnic by the lake, or just rub shoulders with farmers who care about the future of the land as much as the food they put on your plate.

See you at the market!

Johanna Hurme - Architecture Against Ambivalence

According to Johanna Hurme, we cannot afford to litter our world with mediocre & disposable architecture. We need to recognize that the difference between the good & the bad is long-term vision, intelligence & care, not the price tag. By presenting a series of case studies, projects & processes, Johanna will demonstrate how design can provide answers to problems far greater than the task at hand, & how by thinking beyond the ordinary we all can help create an undeniably better world. This talk will be preceded by a short performance by flamenco guitarist, Baraa Safaa.
