Art Galleries & Artists

The beauty of the Creston Valley inspires many of the artists and artisans that live and work in the area.
Take the 7-Studios Tour or putter around town from one gallery to the next. Creston provides a rare opportunity to view first-hand artists and artisans at work.
7-Studios Tour
Pick up a 7-Studios brochure at the Creston Visitor Centre and spend a leisurely afternoon touring artist studios in the Creston Valley. Visitors will witness various art media, including pottery, painting, batik, sculpture, photography, and candle-making, and will get a chance to speak to the artists themselves.
Follow the detailed itinerary – the drive from one studio to the next usually takes less than 10 minutes. The total driving time is less than 45 minutes. Admission to all studios is free, although arriving at the end without a purchase is not likely.

Artwalk/Drive
The Creston Valley & Eastshore Artwalk/Drive is a summer-long celebration, displaying the work of local artists in nearly 40 galleries and other venues throughout the area. Pick up a brochure and start walking or driving – there is much to see and a lot of ground to cover.
Crawford Bay Artisans
Perhaps one of the most scenic drives in Canada is Highway 3A from Creston to Kootenay Bay, the eastern terminal of the Kootenay Lake Ferry. Just a few minutes south of the ferry landing, the village of Crawford Bay – also known as the location of the renowned Kokanee Springs Golf Course – has carved out a niche for itself as a centre for artisans.
Highlights include the Kootenay Forge, where black iron is transformed into functional art, and the North Woven Broom Company, which manufactures traditional handcrafted brooms. There is also a weaving, glassblowing, and copper-enameling studio all within a few minutes walking distance.
For more information on artists and art galleries in the area stop by the Creston Visitor Centre.
