Cranbrook, situated in the middle of the Rocky Mountain Trench, is accessible via a number of highways and along three driving routes in the Kootenay Rockies region.
Highway 95 runs up and down the valley connecting the city with Spokane, WA (303km/188mi) via the Canada/US border crossing at Kingsgate, and with the Trans-Canada Highway at Golden, 246km/153mi to the north. Highway 95A links Cranbrook with nearby Kimberley, rejoining Highway 95 at Wasa.
Highway 3 connects Cranbrook with Castlegar, Nelson, the southern Thompson Okanagan region and Vancouver 849km/528mi to the west, and with Fernie and the Crowsnest Pass to southern Alberta and Calgary, 402km/250mi to the east.
