Baker Hill is a heritage residential area dating from 1898, while the downtown core and the railway heritage infrastructure area provide additional experiences in local history. Tours, with a pre-planned route, can be started from the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel, or you can plan your own itinerary

The Kootenay Country Fair is a full day at Fort Steele Heritage Town including contests, an auction & many exhibits such as baked goods, produce & cut flowers, preserves & needlework. Fort Steele's regular displays & shops will all be open & the Steam Train will be running from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. It will be a very fun day from 8:30 am in the morning until 4:30 pm.
