"Explore Historic Cranbrook" is is a free self-guided tour of Cranbrook's heritage archictehcure from the late 1800s as well as local monuments, parks & other attractions.

"Baker Hill" is a heritage residential area dating from 1898, while the downtown core and the railway heritage infrastructure area provide additional experiences in local history. Tours, with a pre-planned route, can be started from the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel, or you can plan your own itinerary

Peak season commences July 1 for Fort Steele and they're planning a big kick-off party. Celebrations begin with the Kimberley Community Band. There will be birthday cake, family games, wagon & steam train rides, heritage trades, living history street dramas and the first public performance of this year's live theatre show 'Gabardine & Galoshes' at the Wild Horse Theatre round out the afternoon.

Be part of the action at Fort Steele Heritage Town's Wild West Wednesday. The event starts with a hearty BBQ dinner at the International Hotel, followed by an evening train ride aboard the 1077 steam locomotive. It's not your ordinary train ride though, as passengers encounter bandits in the woods & experience an old-fashioned train heist. Dessert is served at the railway viewing platform & a cash bar is available afterwards. Tickets are available for the entire evening or just the train ride. Seating is limited, so please book ahead.

The Kootenay Country Fair is a full day at Fort Steele Heritage Town including contests, an auction and many exhibits such as baked goods, produce & cut flowers, preserves & needlework. There will be a best scarecrow contest as well as a best decorated bike contest. Fort Steele's regular displays & shops will all be open & the Steam Train will be running from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. It will be a very fun day from 8:30 am in the morning until 4:30 pm.
