After more than 119 years of celebrating historic ties to Britain, the Cumberland Empire Days is still going strong. With events including pancake breakfasts, soap box derbies, fashion shows, dancing, crafts, sport, music & a parade, there is fun for all. This annual event held over the Victoria Day weekend celebrates Cumberland's heritage & features a parade, May Queen festivities at Village Park & street market.

Events for the weekend include a pancake breakfast, laying of wreaths at Ginger Goodwin gravesite, cemetery tour, refreshments, pub crawl, dinner & entertainment. A full schedule will be available closer to the date. The purpose of Miner's Memorial Weekend is to: renew the commitment to strive for safe & healthy workplaces for all workers, commemorate the miners who worked & lost their lives in the mines of Cumberland & other workplaces throughout BC, commemorate the life & contribution of Ginger Goodwin, union organizer & labour martyr.

Our event welcomes over 15,000 visitors annually. Guests come to learn about Comox Valley, Northern Vancouver Island & BC agriculture through fun-filled family activities. There is something for everyone at the Exhibition: 2 1/2 days of non-stop main stage entertainment, Open Air Market (crafters, artists, food & more). Zucchini races, Scavenger Fun Hunt, Chainsaw Carving, Kids Zone, Game Lane, Kiddie Tractor Pull, Petting Pen Poultry Show, Sheep Show, Horse Shows, Dog World, 4H, Home & Garden Arts, Quilt Show, Antique Machinery, Educational Displays, Musicians, Dancers, Clowns & Comedians.

Victoria's most popular Halloween activity over the past 20 years. Tour routes are developed and narrated by John Adams, a well-known local historian and ghost expert who has appeared many times on the Creepy Canada TV series. Each year, the two-hour route is different and includes many new stories as well as some of the favourites from previous years. Ghost Bus Tours leave from a secret Victoria location. Only once you reserve and pay for your ticket will you find out the departure location. Seating is limited on each bus and tickets sell out quickly, so book early.
