Clinton is located on Highway 97, once the "junction" of Cariboo Trail and Cariboo Wagon Road, which guided prospectors north to the gold fields.
Journey into Clinton's pioneer and ranching past on a self-guided historic tour, or spend a couple of hours at the Clinton Museum, which houses an original steel stagecoach strongbox. Travel by car around Clinton and the surrounding area, taking in both the pristine natural setting and interesting heritage sites on a historic circle route tour. The circle route includes the Big Bar Ferry, which has carried passengers safely across the Fraser River since 1894.
Winter Activities
Cross-country ski on groomed trails at Big Bar Ski Trails, or branch off into the wilderness at Lime Mountain, just west of town. Locals suggest Carson Mountain for great snowmobiling on ungroomed trails, and skating at Clinton's indoor rink when the weather is just a bit too chilly.
Clinton Heritage Week
Clinton Heritage Week is held during the Victoria Day Weekend in May – fitting, as Queen Victoria officially named the town "Clinton" in 1863. For one week Clinton goes western to celebrate its gold rush past, beginning with the fancy dress Clinton Ball (held annually since 1868), and continuing with a parade, the May Ball Rodeo, the 4H Steak Dinner and Dance, and the Old Timers' Tea Party. During Heritage Week the Clinton Museum throws an open house, inviting visitors to peruse its extensive archive and photograph collection.
Clinton Country Jamboree
Bring the entire family to the Clinton Country Jamboree, held annually the third weekend in August. Live country music plays in the band shell at Reg Conn Centennial Park all day long, and the traditional lifestyle of a bygone pioneer era is displayed in demonstrations of farrier skills, branding, butter and rope making, and black powder shows.
