Downhill skiers and snowboarders have three options in the Clearwater area.

Take the family to Clearwater Ski Hill in town, venture out to Sun Peaks Resort, or sign up for a heli-skiing package at Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing.

Clearwater Ski Hill

Clearwater Ski Hill is a family-oriented complex with 5 runs ranging from a beginners' bunny hill to quite challenging slopes, with night skiing available. The comfortable mountaintop lodge has a cafeteria and on-site equipment rentals for skis and snowboards.

Sun Peaks Resort

Sun Peaks Resort, 90 minutes from Clearwater, is an easy ski and snowboard day trip.

The resort boasts mild temperatures, fine dry snow, abundant blue skies, and more than 2,000 hours of annual sunshine. Choose from Tod Mountain's open bowls, Sundance Mountain's perfectly groomed cruisers, or Mount Morrisey's glades. The longest run is 8km/5mi from the top of Tod Mountain down to the European-style village.

Mike Wiegele Heli Village Resort

Located north of Clearwater in the community of Blue River, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing attracts skiers and snowboarders from all over the world to its deep powder terrain at elevation of 1,046m/3,400ft to 3,569m/11,600ft. The resort at the Mike Wiegele Heli Village is located at a low elevation of 690m/2,240ft. Guests stay in one of 22 handcrafted log chalets located throughout the resort.
