There are three nine-hole golf courses – Lacarva Golf Course, Wells Gray Golf Course, and Chinook Cove Golf Course – in the Clearwater area.
Each of these 9-hole layouts tests the course management skills of even the most experienced golfers. For an 18-hole challenge, head to Sun Peaks Golf Course, 111km/69mi from Clearwater.
Lacarya Golf Course
The Lacarya Golf Course is situated next to a popular RV park, 5km/3mi South of Clearwater on Hwy 5. The challenge at this course is keeping an eye on the ball: the mountainous terrain and high country wilderness is amazingly distracting. The 2625m/2871yd course runs along the flat valley bottom, and has a practice area with sand, putting, and driving facilities. Rental golf clubs, and pull and power carts are available at the course.

Wells Gray Golf Course
Located adjacent to the Helmcken Falls Lodge, on the edge of the Wells Gray Provincial Park 35 km/21mi north of Clearwater, the Wells Gray Golf Resort & RV Park combines 2820m/3085yd wilderness and golfing terrain. On occasion a bear crosses the fairway and deer are commonplace. The RV Park has 50 full service campsites in addition to RV facilities. Club and power carts are available to rent.
Chinook Cove Golf Course
The Chinook Cove Golf Course, 3km/1.8mi north of Barriere on Highway 5, this is one of British Columbia's best maintained nine-hole layouts. The course stretches 2955m/3232yd, with the first three holes linked, while the final five wind through the woods. The greens are fast, the fairways lush and well kept, and each hole has its own hazard demanding well thought out approach shots. The pro shop has a variety of equipment, but rental clubs are limited.
Sun Peaks Golf Course
The Sun Peaks Golf Course is well known for its challenging forested front nine, and its meadow-like back nine that rewards the long-ball hitter. Graham Cooke designed this 1220m/4000ft course to encompass the rising and falling landscape around McGillivray Creek that weaves quietly through the thick pine and spruce forest valley. The course has golf club rentals, power carts, and a driving range. Amenities at Sun Peaks Village are easily accessible.
