In Chetwynd, hike well-developed trails, trek to viewpoints high above town, or traverse rustic wilderness territory in the boreal forest.
Always be aware that trails are also used for mountain biking.
Hikes in Town
Walk through town on paved trails that pass by the famous Chetwynd chainsaw carvings; hike from Chetwynd to the top of Mount Baldy for a great view of town and the surrounding area (for a longer jaunt continue along the trail to Ghost Mountain); weave along looping trails that connect throughout the Chetwynd community forest; or check out the Greenspace and Trails for Tomorrow, which include the Community Forest Interpretive Trail (0.7km/0.43mi), the Cottonwood Trail (1.5km/0.93mi), the Crown Trail (3km/2mi), the Connector Trail (12km/7.5mi), and more.

Hikes Near Chetwynd
The R2 Hiking Trail is a rambling 54km/33.5mi route through the boreal forest from Chetwynd to Moberly Lake. The trailhead is 12km/7mi south of Chetwynd on highway 97. Turn right onto Schilling Road, which becomes Wildmare Road. A short trail hike is found at Heart Lake in Pine LeMoray Provincial Park. It offers a chance to see flowers like Queen's Cup, a white flower orchid that blooms in late spring or early summer.
