Start your summer off with a bang!
Step back in time with a walk through Nanaimo's oldest heritage building and visit three floors of museum exhibits. Visitor information is also available during Bastion operating hours. Experience the cannon firing re-enactment ceremony from 11:45-12:00 daily. On Thursdays and Saturdays in July and August only the cannon firing ceremony features Highland dance performances by youth from the Brigadoon Dance Academy. These dance performances are a tribute to the Scottish families that immigrated to Nanaimo in the 1850s. The Bastion is located on Front Street in downtown.
