Join us for lively musical entertainment as we celebrate BC Day with a fun day for the kids! Jump aboard with unlimited train rides, bouncy castle, games, and a concession! This annual event is a family favourite and brings out the inner child in everyone!

The museum opens at 10 am and closes at 4:30 pm. The train runs from 11:00 am - 4 pm, on the half hour. Regular admission rates apply and this event is included in BCFDC memberships.

"Picture yourself at the Fair - From Pioneer Days to Modern Ways" celebrates the VIEX as the largest and oldest event in the community for 118 years. Come see our new midway - Shooting Star Amusements, headline entertainment for 3 days, clowns, home show, livestock displays, home arts, kidszone, kennel club and k9 demos, sheepdog trials, skateboard competitions, goat milking demos & pie eating contest & NEW this year - our community garden. VIEX is fun for everyone!

Don't miss the old-fashioned Cobble Hill Fair. This real country fair & exhibition has delighted visitors with agricultural displays, livestock & great family entertainment since 1909. Events include: pancake breakfast, parade, blacksmith demos, sheepdog trials, livestock shows, hall exhibits, horse show, 4-H shows, kids games, trade show, all-day entertainment, vintage machineries, 4-H livestock auction & much more.

Labour Day is Members' Day at the BC Forest Discovery Centre! Relax with your family on the last day of summer vacation & ride the final steam train of the season. To show our appreciation of your support, we will be providing one complimentary hot dog & pop to each member (upon presentation of your membership card). As well, general family members will enjoy a free visit without a punch on their card.

Each location will offer at least one complimentary activity or tasting (many have more).

Beware of the Hallowe'en Train! Ride the steam train through ghostly scenes and past scary Hallowe'en characters at the museum. Children will enjoy trick or treating and making Hallowe'en crafts, and there are haunted houses for those who dare!

After 4:30 pm, costumed spooks will be mingling with the visitors and creeping up in unexpected places! The performers are provided by the South Island Musical Theatre Society. Spooky exhibits and live Hallowe'en music will take place in the main gallery.

Samson, the 1910 steam locomotive, leaves the station every 30 minutes except there will be no train at 4:30 pm.

The Christmas Express. December 7-9, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays: 4pm - 9pm. December 14-23, Daily: 4pm - 9pm. Be enchanted as you ride through our decorated forest on a 1910 steam locomotive! Enjoy the season's laughter & twinkling lights on the Christmas Express. Visit with Santa Claus, dance to live Christmas music, make a Christmas tree craft in the schoolhouse, watch the model train display & warm up with hot chocolate or a snack in Train Stations Treats.
