Recognized as Nanaimo's most spectacular summer festival, the Save On Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival will be a true celebration of our diverse and beautiful city, attracting over 30,000 people and more than 80 dragon boat teams from across North America. Admission is free to the general public. Come down to the waters of Nanaimo Harbour and celebrate with us!

The Annual Nanaimo Toy Run will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013. This event in support of the children of Greater Nanaimo is open to all riders & supporters. The ride will start at the Cedar Community Hall and proceed through downtown Nanaimo ending at Beban Park. At Beban Park the events are open to everyone including: bike games, live bands, beer gardens, Show & Shine, food and merchandise vendors, prizes for competitors, children's events and more! Riders are reminded to bring a new unwrapped toy for the ride.

"Brits on the Beach" is the Central Island Branch's greatest car show of the year. In 2012 we had over 200 British cars participating from all over BC & beyond. Participants bring their cars from the North Island, South Island, all over the mainland, Washington State & sometimes even farther to Transfer Beach in Ladysmith, BC.

This Annual Island Folk Festival, once again to be held on the beautiful grounds at Providence Farm in Duncan on July 19-21, 2013. The festival opens at 5:00 pm on Friday & closes on Sunday at 5:00 pm. The Cowichan Folk Guild will be presenting 3 days of culturally diverse music from some of the top artists from around the World. Over 50 talented acts & 150 musical participants will be featured.

Ahoy mateys! For one magical day young & old alike gather together at Maffeo Sutton Park to enjoy one of Nanaimo's Premiere events: the Silly Boat Regatta. The event includes boat building, free fun family activities, face painting, crafts, games, a sports zone, music, Coast Capital Savings Wally's World, a children's regatta & of course, the main grand championship regatta.

This spectacular day full of fun, camaraderie & of course, silly antics is a fundraiser for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

Nanaimo is famous for its love of quirky fun, which truly kicked off in 1967 when a former mayor of Nanaimo famously donned a pirate costume, raised his sword & launched Nanaimo's first bathtub race. "Tubbers" & visitors from around the world have been coming to Nanaimo for more than 40 years to take part in this now world famous recreational festival & race, which includes three days of exciting Island-style summer celebrations. Chemainus Bluegrass Extravaganza & Festival is a one day event held in downtown Chemainus. Some of the bands featured are Highrise Lonesome, 5 on A String, Drifters, The Hub City Ramblers, Bluegrass Fever, The Maple Mountain Boys and more! Saturday admission prices at a 'suggested $15 ($10 on Sunday). Rain or shine, bring your folding chairs to Wheelhouse Park for a wonderful music event.

Our campgrounds surround the festival area and offer a fun atmosphere, suitable for all ages.
