Castlegar has two provincial parks and several riverside parks that provide endless opportunity for outdoor recreation.
Excellent hiking, cycling, fishing, swimming, and canoeing are warm weather favourites. As well, many parks feature campgrounds.
Syringa Creek Provincial Park
A 25-minute drive west of downtown Castlegar, Syringa Creek Provincial Park is a popular family destination for locals and visitors.
Situated on the sunny north shore of the Lower Arrow Lake, the park offers a wide range of recreational opportunities, including canoeing, cycling, fishing, hiking, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing. There are a total of 61 campsites. Reservations are recommended.

Nancy Greene Provincial Park
Named for the renowned Canadian Olympic skier, Nancy Greene Lake is the centrepiece of Nancy Greene Provincial Park. A 20-minute drive from Castlegar westbound along Highway #3, the park features a small beach and offers hiking, canoeing, and fishing opportunities. Note that powerboats are not permitted.
Pass Creek Regional Park
Pass Creek Regional Park is a 34ha/84ac park located off Park Side Road in Robson, just across the Columbia River from downtown. Attractions include a swimming pond, beach, picnic areas, a children’s playground, ball field, soccer field, nature trails, riding ring, and equestrian facilities. The park also has an extraordinary diversity of trees within its boundaries. A total of 30 campsites are available in the park, each with a fire pit.
Millennium Walkway/Twin Rivers Park
Just one part of an extensive trail network, the Millennium Walkway/Twin Rivers Park is a paved riverfront trail on the west side of the Columbia River. Check out the interpretive signage along the way. A short walk from downtown, access is at the eastern end of 5th Street.
