Castlegar Sunfest is held annually on the first weekend of June and the goal of the organizing committee is to stage events and provide entertainment suitable for people of all ages. The weekend begins with a fundraising BBQ on Friday at noon. The Festival in the Park opens in Kinsman Park, on hand are dozens of food and merchandise vendors and a variety of activities and entertainment to keep everyone in a great mood. The Miss Castlegar Pagean also takes place on Friday evening in the Stanley Humphries Secondary School theatre.

The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life is a celebration of survival and a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have been touched by cancer. Teams of people commit to raising funds and fighting back against this disease as they participate in a 12 hour non-competitive relay by taking turns walking, running or strolling around a track in the community.

The 13th annual Father's Day Poker Run is a 5 card stop run that begins in Castlegar at Joey's Only Restaurant with breakfast and Registration until 10:00 am. Touring the West Kootenay Loop, local riders enjoy a great ride while receiving 1 card per hand purchased at each of the 5 stops throughout, with lunch available at the Salmo Hotel. The last stop returns to the Lions Head Pub this year, around 3:00 pm, where riders and non-riders alike will be able to enjoy great food and beverages along with prizes and great entertainment including the usual tricycle races.

An ongoing venture for the Castlegar Arts Council, Art Walk is a welcome opportunity for artists to show their work to the community and its visitors at local business 'mini-galleries' throughout the summer.

Kootenay Festival - Let's Celebrate! is a multi-faceted event encouraging the recognition and appreciation of our community diversity through entertainment, cuisine and interactive educational activities, displays and performance. The festival will provide our residents and summer visitors an outstanding opportunity to experience and celebrate the heritage, culture, ethnicity and artistic expression that enriches the Kootenay region and makes us proud to call it our home.

The West Kootenay Kennel Club hosts its 36th Kennel Club Dog Show at the Pass Creek Exhibition Grounds in Castlegar. This is a world-class all-breed championship show featuring obedience trials, rally obedience trials and junior handling.

18th Annual Fall Fair & Horse Show. Dressage horse events, children's games and entertainment. Exhibits include needle crafts, baking, art, home preserves, photography, flowers, weaving and more. There will be a Dog Agility Show and Demo. The 3 days are packed with events for all ages.
