Whale Watching

In the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region, go whale watching near the coastal communities of Bella Coola, Klemtu, Shearwater and Bella Bella.

Look for Orcas (killer whales) and humpback, minke and grey whales as they migrate through through this region on their way to Alaska or Mexico. Whales are often spotted near the Great Bear Rainforest – the world’s largest remaining continuous tract of intact temperate rainforest and home of the rare Kermode (Spirit) bear.

A handful of whale-watching tours and cruising companies run wildlife viewing excursions that include looking for whales and other wildlife. Many incorporate local Aboriginal culture too.
