In the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region, fresh foods abound in summer. A wide range of restaurants, bistros, cafes and pubs serve regional cuisine, like fresh seafood, smoked salmon, local beef or buffalo and wild game.
The region also has a commercial winery and a selection of spas – some of which are at guest ranches – for relaxing.
Farmers' Markets
Many communities host farmers' markets May through October. Load up on seasonal, freshly picked produce, as well as syrups, honeys, organic meats, crafts and soaps by local artisans.
Markets are located in 100 Mile House, Clinton, Lillooet, Williams Lake, Quesnel, and Bella Coola; look for them in smaller communities as well. Ask local Visitor Centres for time and location information.

Aboriginal Foods
Learn about the region's Aboriginal peoples while feasting on traditional foods.
- Partake in a traditional Aboriginal feast in Xat'sull Heritage Village, located north of Williams Lake. Take the full-day tour, which includes lunch, commentary on the Xat'sull people plus an interpretation of ancient petroglyphs.
- In Lillooet, the St'át'imc Cultural Experiences Project offers a traditional First Nations lunch combined with a cultural tour. Visit significant Aboriginal sites and learn about the local culture; lunch consists of such delicacies as smoked salmon, bannock and venison.
XH Buffalo Ranch
You're in the heart of BC's ranching country, and this buffalo ranch east of 70 Mile House along Green Lake won't disappoint.
- Ride in an open wagon pulled by a farm tractor through the middle of the herd for an up-close look at the buffalo. Depending on the time of year, you may spot some buffalo calves.
- Purchase various buffalo products, including organic meat, on site.
Take a whiff of this annual homage to garlic at 100 Mile House in August, which features such potent activities as peeling and eating contests. Be sure to try the many garlic-infused foods.
