Indulge in three masterpieces penned by chamber music titans Haydn, Beethoven, and Brahms. Koerner Quartet serves as ensemble-in-residence at the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) where they fulfill a mandate to cultivate an appreciation of chamber music amongst Vancouver audiences. This concert opens with Haydn's String Quartet Op. 64 No. 5 "Lark," followed by the effortless genius of Beethoven's early period String Quartet Op. 18 No. 4, and Brahms' exuberant String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, featuring Koerner Quartet alumnus, violist Marcus Takizawa.

"A World of Song" is a concert of gorgeous folk songs from around the world, including some of the most beloved folk song settings by Benjamin Britten, Manuel de Falla, and Johannes Brahms. The program also includes quirkier, but no less beautiful, settings by John Cage and the Canadian composer Chris Harman. With their simple melodies and lush accompaniments, these songs are sure to appeal!
