BC Ferries is the primary provider of ferry service in the province. They offer scheduled passenger and vehicle service to almost 50 ports of call along BC's coastline. Smaller regional ferry operators service remote local and lakeside communities and are quick and economical.
Popular marine crossings occur between the mainland and Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, as well as the Sunshine Coast, an inlet-studded stretch of coastal mainland not accesible by road. The Discovery Coast Connector links small communities on BC's mid-coast, in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region. Connecting service to other regions via the Inside Passage ferry, is available.
