Breweries, Distilleries & Cideries

British Columbia’s breweries, cideries and distilleries are gaining a global reputation for making award-winning beer, tasty ciders, and premium sprits.

Medals from world beer championships adorn many local brews, while the Pemberton Distillery was awarded “Spirit of the Year” at the prestigious World Spirit Awards in Austria.

There are more than 50 breweries and brewpubs in BC – with Vancouver and Victoria as brewpub hotspots – along with a growing number of cideries and small-batch distilleries. As the birthplace of the 100 Mile Diet dining movement, many British Columbians embrace locally brewed products, and brewpubs often pair craft beers with west coast cuisine.

Beer festivals such as Hopscotch, the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale, the Canada Cup of Beer and the Great Canadian Beer Festival are great places to sample local specialties.
