Our goal is to inspire and stimulate people to explore their relationship with the ocean by bringing together local and international filmmakers and presenters in a multimedia event and film competition. Celebrate World Oceans Day as we present three shows of world class documentaries at the VIFF Vancity Theatre.

For 2012, we are very proud to be partnering with the Georgia Strait Alliance. All profits, after expenses, will be donated to them to assist in their mission to protect and restore the marine environment and promote the sustainability of Georgia Strait, its adjoining waters and communities.

The Kusam Klimb is a wild and rugged 23 km loop heading up and over Mount H'Kusam and down the Stowe Creek watershed. Starting at sea level, participants pass through some of the most spectacular scenery on Vancouver Island with views of mountain peaks and the Johnstone Strait as they negotiate their way over the well-developed trail. While the trail is open for year-round hiking, an organized event is held once per year on the summer solstice. The Kusam Klimb draws participants from around the world hoping to conquer the mountain! Are YOU tough enough?

Paddle for the Peace is a joint project of the West Moberly First Nations and the Peace Valley Environment Association. Our work has been endorsed by the Y2Y conservation initiative as supportive of their goals, to maintain and restore the unique natural heritage of the Yellowstone to Yukon corridor.

The event begins with a pancake breakfast hosted by the West Moberly First Nations, followed by a downstream paddle to Bear Flat. Following the paddle, a shuttle will take paddlers back to the launch location. This year, David Suzuki will be paddling with us!
