The Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association present's the popular Bathtub Days Street Fair that will take over Commercial Street and Victoria Crescent on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday July 27. There will be live music, roving entertainment and acts on the street and on stage in Diana Krall Plaza, a pancake breakfast, craft and local food vendors, artists and a local business market and an import market, will stretch the length of Commercial Street. Victoria Crescent will also be closed to traffic to make way for a car show both days! Diana Krall Plaza will turn into a kid's fun zone and watch fabulous local talent on the entertainment stage. Friendly competitions; a watermelon eating contest, Nanaimo Bar bake-off and Waiters Race!

The Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC organizes and produces one of the largest annual Caribbean festival's in British Columbia - an exuberant celebration of music, cultural entertainment, art and artisans, and a variety of ethnic food.

The festival kicks off with a multicultural street parade followed by stage performances each day, presented by diverse multi-ethnic groups but with an overall Caribbean theme. This festival reflects the multicultural and diverse origins of Caribbean culture. Attractions include cultural artifacts, handmade artisanal goods and merchandise for sale as well as the stage performances of music and dance.

This is a family event catering to all ages, with no admission charge. The venue is wheelchair accessible and convenient to Skytrain, Seabus and local transit.

The Kelowna Branch Okanagan Historical Society will be holding their annual Family Pioneer Picnic behind Parkinson Recreation Centre, next to the creek on Sunday, July 27 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This year the Picnic will be recognizing the arrival of Rutland families to the area.

All Okanagan Historical Society Members and Pioneers are welcome, and bring your families!

Please also bring a bag lunch. Coffee, juice, cake and ice cream will be provided to everyone free of charge.

Society publications 'Kelowna Street Names - Their Origins', as well as our Annual historical reports will be available for purchase.
