The Luxton Fall Fair is an old-fashioned fair that focuses on providing fun for the whole family. It is a lively combination of Luxton's agricultural roots & present status as a rapidly-developing suburb of Victoria. The Annual Kootenay Lake Fall Fair has many family activities, judged exhibits, market, crafts, music & entertainment for the whole family. 102nd Annual! A yearly event and one of the oldest fairs in the province. It was an amazing event last year with, raffle baskets, outside activities, tea, games for the kids, live music and also a "Best Of.." taste testing. Last year it was the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Best Pesto!

Much loved by young & old, locals & tourists alike, the annual Fall Fair is Salt Spring Island's oldest community event, & the one with the most heart!

Celebrations & competitions have changed somewhat through the years, but much is still as it was when agriculture was the backbone of the economy, & the fair originated in 1896.

Thousands of entries are expected to delight crowds of all ages this year. Classification of entries fall under livestock, horticulture, homemade wines, foods, hobbies, crafts, & many more!

Every fall the Windermere Community Association hosts the Fall Fair & Scarecrow Festival. This year is the 13th annual. Events include judged entries of flowers, vegetables, fruit, baking, canning & photography. Craft demonstrations & display booths cover the school ground adjacent to the hall & include blacksmithing, quilting, bent willow furniture making, wood carving, interesting foods & jewellery. This is a family day with lots of events for the kids, such as races, face painting, fish tank, clowns, the Windermere Fire Department, the egg catapult & dog shows. Great food is served all day. The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where individuals, families & groups get together to raise money for cancer research.

Terry was a Canadian cancer activist who, in 1980, with one leg amputated, embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money & awareness for cancer research.

Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days & 5,373 km & ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy.

This annual run, first held in 1981, now involves millions of participants in over 60 countries & is the world's largest one-day cancer research fundraiser.
