The roots of our rodeo go back to the 1860's during the Cariboo Gold Rush. When honest hardworking cowboys & cowgirls drove cattle to the gold fields from present day Washington & Idaho states & started the first ranches in the Cariboo. The 5th Annual JLB Memorial Kettle River Run is a community event taking place in the beautiful Village of Midway. Walk or Run 5k, 10k or 21k to help raise money to benefit patients undergoing cancer treatment in the Southern Interior. All pledge proceeds go directly to support the Patient Emergency and Compassionate Relief Fund for eligible patients traveling to and from Kelowna for treatment.

Hike to Big Buck Mountain on the Heather Trail with a naturalist (meet at the Naturalist Hut at 10:00 am with your lunch, water, extra clothes & good walking/hiking shoes) or volunteer to do some trail work (meet at the Lightning Lake Day Use Area at 10:00 am), or relax & enjoy activities, a kid's art contest, listen to a band, eat at a BBQ or take a boat out on Lightning Lake (at the Lightning Lake Day Use Area - activities from 11:00 am-3:00 pm).

If you're staying in the park, head to the Lightning Lake Amphitheatre for 8:00 pm to enter in The Great Parks Day Quiz Show!
